Snohomish and Bellevue Christian Counseling and Psychotherapy                         About Me

My name is Colleen Tredway and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in private practice providing professional and affordable Christian counseling services in Snohomish and Bellevue Washington.
In 2000, I left Florida and relocated to Washington State. In 2007 I returned to graduate school and obtained a Master’s Degree in Pastoral Counseling/Mental Health Counseling from Seattle University.
My graduate program, in addition to my achedemic studies, included an 18 month internship which I completed at Compass Health, a community mental health agency in Everett Washington. During this internship I provided counseling and education to clients dealing with issues such as low self-esteem, post traumatic stress disorder, addiction and co-morbidity, mood disorders, personality disorders, domestic violence, anxiety, depression, sexual abuse, and health related issues. My commitment to educating clients led me to implement a bipolar psycho-education group during my internship.
My identity as a psychotherapist and Pastoral Counselor makes it possible for me to integrate sound counseling psychology with an in depth understanding of spirituality, theology, and faith.
In addition to my graduate studies in counseling I have received additional training and certificates in the following areas:
EMDR Training Level I and II
LifeSpan Integration Therapy, Basic and Advanced training
Certificate in Addiction and Recovery
Certification in Spiritual Direction
In addition to my counseling practice I am also a registered nurse. Having lived the majority of my adult life in Florida, I received my nursing degree from Edison State College in Fort Myers. As a registered nurse I worked in a variety of settings which included home health, intensive care, and the emergency room. I held various positions from staff nurse to assistant clinical manager of three intensive care units. My career in nursing provided me with an understanding of the human person in relation to health and wellness.
I am a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC),  The American Psychological Association (APA), the Catholic Psychotherapy Association (CPA), and the Association of Christian Therapist (ACT).

Spiritual Direction

I have a certification in Spiritual Direction which I received in 1998 through the School of Spirituality in Clearwater Florida. This program is in association with the Franciscan University of Steubenville.

"When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives means the most us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving much advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a gentle and tender hand. The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing, not curing, not healing and face with us the reality of our powerlessness, that is a friend who cares."
